Our Story

In 2015 I started growing my first full beard. Up until then I had short beards, or just a goatee. As I adventured through my journey with this new growth on my face. I soon realized I started itching and constantly rubbing my fingers through my beard (gross I know). After doing some research I found out that I needed to put this thing called beard oil in my beard (who would've thought there was such a thing).

Once I got my first bottle of beard oil, I knew this is what I was missing. Not only did I have more control and was not itching as much. I felt more confident in my beard. Sadly, this was not to last. As I started using my oil, I started to learn that not all oil is created equal. I tried several different company's products and learned that there are ones that would leave your beard dry again by the end of the day or the exact opposite I could wring oil out of my beard. (don't think that's how it's supposed to be!)

After not finding a middle ground, I decided to try my hand at making something that would meet that need. After numerous attempts and almost giving up I finally achieved my goal and made what is now known as Skegg, our unscented line of products. Once I had the correct ingredients, I knew it was testing time. I gave out these samples to my very trusting friends who then became my test subjects. Once the feedback started coming back, I knew I had found the correct mixture. From there I started to experiment with the aromas. Then as they say the rest is history.

I founded the name Modern Viking in March of 2017 and had my first sale that same month. From there I slowly started to add the other items you see now. Such as the sandalwood combs, the peppermint beard shampoo and the bar soaps. It has been an awesome journey and I hope that you will be with joining with us as we continue.
